CampSunshine Volunteers

Each month, we highlight a company, organization, individual donor, or foundation for their outstanding financial commitment to Camp Sunshine. This month, as the first of 27 camp sessions planned for 2012 approaches on February 17th, and the first crew of more than 2,500 volunteers for the year arrives, we are proud to highlight Camp Sunshine's volunteers, collectively, as our February 2012 Donors of the Month.

In 2011, more than 2,500 volunteers generously donated over 70,000 hours to Camp Sunshine, resulting in a tremendous cost savings. Since 1984, over 29,000 volunteers have generously contributed more than 960,000 hours of their valuable time. Beyond saving Camp Sunshine hundreds of thousands of dollars annually, it is the "spirit" the volunteers add which has the most significant value.

Our greatest asset at Camp Sunshine, this extensive network of volunteers represents all walks of life. They range in age from 16 to 80 and include doctors, nurses, social workers, teachers, business executives, high school and college students. Many return again and again. They help with food service, arts and crafts, recreational leadership, one-on-one assistance, child care and more.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of Camp Sunshine, and we salute each and every one of them for their unyielding support and compassionate care.
